Saab

 «Сааб» (Saab, Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget) - шведская компания, специализирующаяся на выпуске легковых и грузовых автомобилей. Штаб-квартира находится в Тролльхеттане. Принадлежит концерну «Дженерал Моторс». 

Компания основана в апреле 1937 для производства военных самолетов. Идея производить автомобили родилась после войны, когда небольшая бригада авиаинженеров во главе с Гунаром Лунгстремом (Gunnar Ljungstreм) была присоединена к лаборатории технического дизайна Sixten Sason, одному из подразделений «Сааба». Концепция Г. Линстрема легла в основу первого опытного образца автомобиля (Saab 92.001), выпущенного к концу 1946 и относившегося к малому классу. Здесь сразу появились отличительный признаки «Саабов» — великолепный аэродинамичный кузов (сказалось родство с самолетами), независимая подвеска колес. Оснащены первые автомобили были двухпоршневыми двигателями типа DKW, которые позже были заменены на более мощные двигатели.
